High Profile Cone Top Beer Cans
The American Can Company introduced the high profile cone top design in 1938. This design quickly became the most popular cone top used by breweries.
The smooth profile of this cone top was the perfect blend of function and design that both the low profile and J spout cone tops lacked. Quickly breweries began to change over to the high profile cone top and it soon became the industry standard.
The high profile cone top was one of only two cone top designs to survive World War II. This cone top was produced for over 15 years after World War II, until the Rice Lake Brewing Co. produced the last high profile cone top in the early 1960's. Many of the most common cone tops available today are of the high profile design.
